Uganda: Seven Held Over Pit-Sawing in Kibaale

Kampala — The Police are holding six men and one juvenile suspected to be involved in illegal pitsawing in Mugarama sub-county.

The acting district Police crime chief, Eric Wabwire, said the seven were nabbed by Sam Mugenzi, the forest ranger in charge of Buyaga county, during an impromptu supervision of the forests in Mukavule village. The men were identified as Gideon Twijukye, 25, Gerald Aliganyira 26, and Francis Mburamahiire, 45.

Others were Julius Tushabe, 22, Sunday Onesmas, 19, Guard Twesigomwe and a juvenile. Wabwire said the suspects had no documents authorising them to cut timber.
