Kampala — THE High Court in Fort Portal has sentenced a man to 15 years in jail for defiling his daughter.

The court, presided over by Justice Dan Kiiza, on Monday found Moses Mabaale, a resident of Kanyambeho village in Ruteeete sub-county in Kabarole district, guilty of having unlawful sex with his 14-year-old daughter in August 2004.

The prosecution, led by John Baptist Asiimwe, told the court that Mabaale separated with his wife, Margaret Kajumba, the mother of the victim.

The couple's daughter stayed with her grandmother in the same village.

The court heard that in 2004, Mabaale fell sick and his daughter took food to him and nursed him.

He defiled his daughter at night and warned her not to reveal the incident.

After some days, Kajumba noticed that her daughter was not walking properly.

When asked what happened, the victim disclosed that she had been defiled by her father.
