Kampala — THE FUFA presidential nominations and the general assembly have been further extended.
Federation returning officer Patrick Okanya announced yesterday that the exercise that had been closed on Monday would continue tomorrow from 10am to 3pm.
The elective assembly in Arua has also been pushed from November 14 to 28.
"It's for the benefit of whoever felt that they had been left out in the original arrangement," explained Okanya. Only incumbent federation boss Lawrence Mulindwa had been nominated.
The nomination exercise was initially set for last Saturday. It was later lengthened by a day after one of the nominees Godfrey Kwizera failed to turn up even after making a booking. But Kabale delegate Kwizera has rejected the new extension.
"Why do they keep ambushing me? If it's this Saturday I still wouldn't have enough time. I haven't got any communication, I have just heard from you now. I thought they had closed. But why are they panicking?" he wondered.
Kwizera argued that Okanya is supposed to communicate to all delegates because any member of the assembly is eligible to contest for presidency.
"Even this nomination thing is not constitutional, I don't know what they are up to," Kwizera added.
The Kabale delegate who threatened to drag Okanya to court, said he would soon announce his next course of action.
Meanwhile, FIFA has given FUFA a green light to proceed with the elections despite a petition by Kwizera on Tuesday. Kwizera had petitioned requesting for FIFA intervention.
FIFA asked FUFA to explain Kwizera's accusation which FUFA CEO Edgar Watson did and world soccer governing body said the local federation could proceed with the electoral process.
