Uganda: Headteacher Summoned Over Fraud

Kampala — THE former Budo Junior School headteacher, William Kayongo, has been summoned in court over fraud.

Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate Vincent Mugabo on Wednesday summoned Kayongo after he failed to appear in court for allegedly obtaining a piece of land worth sh1b fraudulently.

Brian Sserunjogi, the lawyer representing Kayongo, said he could not appear in court because he was supervising the on-going 'O' Level examinations.

Kayongo is accused of obtaining a land title from the family of the late Gregory Mabiriizi. He is facing charges of forgery and uttering false documents.
