Kigali — RWANDA'S national basketball team head coach is ready to commit his future to Rwanda despite being linked with a possible move to Morocco.
Kavedzija Vaceslav, whose contract expires next month, claims that he would like to extend his stay in Rwanda.
"I would like to continue working with the national teams but that depends on the local basketball federation (Ferwaba) and the Sports ministry (Minispoc)," he said.
According to Minispoc's permanent secretary Jean Pierre Karabaranga, the ministry is willing to renew the Croat's contract.
"We want to renew his contract but we have to wait and see because we have learnt that Morocco are also chasing for his signature," Karabaranga said.
Vaceslav became a crowd favourite after guiding the men and women national sides to the Afrobasket competitions.
The teams qualified after a stunning show in the Zone 5 championships which were hosted in Kigali back in February.
The men's team finished second to Egypt while their female counterparts dethroned Kenya to qualify for last month's Fiba-Africa Women Championships which were held in Madagascar and won by Senegal.
