Director General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), Otunba Olusegun Runsewe has disclosed that the collaboration between the NTDC and the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has greatly reduced crime significantly in Nigeria.

Runsewe said this recently in Abuja when he led his management team to the corporate headquarters of the Corporate Affairs Commission on a courtesy visit.

The NTDC boss told the new Register General of Corporate Affairs Commission, Alhaji Bello Mamoud that the collaboration existing between the two regulatory agencies was more of a national security issue considering its impact so far in crime reduction in the corporate world.

Congratulating the new Registrar General on his appointment and "for being part of making the new statement for our country," Runsewe said he was at the CAC with his management team to ensure sustainability of the collaboration which makes it mandatory for anyone registering tourism related business with the CAC to first get an approval in principle from the NTDC before further registration.

"We believe today we have come in a very strong way to celebrate with you and that you are not alone," said Runsewe, further adding that: "Since the collaboration between the two agencies came into being, the rate of crime outside this country has reduced drastically. It is a wonderful partnership, we need to sustain it."

He therefore stressed that CAC has undoubtedly contributed immensely in boosting the image of the country through the effective execution of its statutory mandate of business registration.

Responding, the new Registrar General of CAC, Alhaji Bello Mamoud explained that the statutory mandate of the Commission is to register companies which must be done with dispatch, even as stressed the need for the desk officers of the two agencies to meet with a view to strengthening the collaboration forward.

According to him, "this collaboration is very necessary for us to move forward in this country" just as he stated that his Commission also had effective collaboration with other relevant agencies and parastatals like the NTDC.

Alhaji Mumoud therefore assured that the collaboration between CAC and NTDC would be sustained.
