Ilorin — The Kwara State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engineer Abdulrauf Kola Shittu, yesterday gave the contractor handling the ongoing Patigi-Rogun/Pada road project one-month ultimatum to improve in its job or have the contract revoked.

The commissioner, who was on inspection visit to the site, expressed displeasure over the level of work done at the project.

Engr. Shittu who also frowned at the inability of the contractor to comply with the contractual design thereby executing shoddy job, warned that, the state government would not hesitate to take necessary actions against any contractor intending to sabotage its efforts.

While advising the contractor to ensure professionalism in the project, the commissioner expressed dismay over his inability to erect signpost that would indicate that the project was being executed by the state government via his company, which he said show the level of unseriousness in the contractor.

Speaking, the resident engineer for the ministry at the project site, Engr. Joseph Bamigboye said the project, which was awarded to Ky-Fy Global Nigeria Limited in February 2008, was expected to be delivered by February 2010.

He said 30 per cent mobilization, representing N383 million had been given to the contractor, adding that he had failed to comply with some directives given by the ministry's residence engineers.

He blamed the contract for lack of adequate personnel and equipments at the site, as well as not complying with the specification.
