Abuja — Government policy on deregulation does not intend to create problems and undue hardship for the citizenry but to ameliorate their situation, the Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps Dr. Ade Abolurin has said.
Abolurin made this statement yesterday in Abuja during the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense corps quarterly briefing of the Zonal and State commandants where he urged the personnel to intensify more effort in their security networking during the "ember" months by collaborating with other agencies in ensuring protection of life and property.
While speaking at the briefing Abolurin called on the populace to see government policy on deregulation of the oil sector as a policy geared towards improving the life of the citizenry and not to see it as it is been misinterpreted, miscrued and misunderstood by the populace leading to the intended strike action threatened to embarked upon by Nigeria Labour Union.
Deregulation policy, he said, should not be viewed from the negative perspective. He said before the advent of GSM, NITEL was the only means of communication and it was used by the rich only, but today GSM has solved communication problem as many people can now afford to own one.
The Commandant General also urged the Zonal Commanders and State Commandant to always discharge their duties without fear or favour and ensures that they mobilized and deploy their personnels to effectively monitor the forth coming NECO exams that are coming up soon.
