Abuja — The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Senator Adamu Aliero has reiterated his administration's willingness to support the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

He said the FCTA will do all within its power to ensure the welfare and comfort of corps members in the FCT as well as provide them with a conducive environment, so that they can relate their intellectual achievements to their work situations.

The minister made this remark yesterday at the swearing-in ceremony for 2009 Batch 'C' corps members deployed to the FCT.

Represented by the FCT Minister of State, Chuka Odiom, he urged the corps members to demonstrate high sense of duty, tolerance, discipline and integrity in spite of the unfamiliar regimented camp environment throughout the duration of the orientation programme and the rest of the service year.

Earlier in his address, FCT NYSC Coordinator Obong Paul Ata said a total number of 2,520 corps members made up of 1312 females and 1208 males drawn from the 36 states of the federation were in camp.

He added further that the orientation programme is an avenue to cultivate new friendships and cordial interaction capable of fostering mutual understanding and fellowship, all of which are critical elements of national cohesion, unity and integration.

The minister warned that corps members found wanting will face camp court, while those that excel in camp activities will receive commendations.
