Abuja — Consumers worrying over substandard goods from China may now heave a sigh of relief as China and Nigeria have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at ending such imports from the former.
Former Minister of Commerce and Industry, and current Chairman, National Organising Committee, First China-Nigeria Trade and Investment Forum, Ambassador Idris Waziri, who made this known yesterday while briefing newsmen in Abuja on the 1st Nigeria-China Trade and Investment Forum 2009, a private initiative, said over 60 Chinese companies are expected to participate in the forum, holding from November 9 to 11, 2009, in Abuja.
Waziri also told reporters that the only panacea to the problem of importation of substandard Chinese products into Nigeria is an organised business forum, where business people and investors of both countries would meet and fashion out a mutually beneficial solution to the problem.
"In addition, Nigeria and China have signed an agreement to stop fake products coming either to Nigeria or China. So, that is part of the recommendations and the government has taken it up" Waziri emphasized.
He noted that China is a very huge market in Asia, which Nigeria must not fail to key into.
Waziri said Nigerians conniving with some Chinese manufacturers to produce and export substandards products into Nigeria would be run out of business with the cooperation of the Chinese. He said Nigeria needed to partner with the Chinese in all fronts, because of their hardwork and resilient nature.

IS AFRICA FOR SALE ? 1) I’ve heard that one African country made a 99-year deal with an Asian country to lease a part of their land. 2) How can anyone make a deal for the next generation ? 3) What can we do about it ? 4) Organize and get those crooks out of office or any position of power.

Try to get the west to match that. The west only cares for things that destabilize and impoverish the African continent.
Yeah yeah yeah, but Kagame doesn't care about the human rights of Innocent Irankunda. Why should anybody respect his or China's shining human rights' records? The West? Yes, the West fails, but it also succeeds in guaranteeing some human rights--that is PEOPLE in the West not the governments.
You reeally ought to be kidding aren't you? WHAT HUMAN RIGHT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT? IN US? LOL!
