South Africa: Gale Force Winds Approaching Cape Town

6 November 2009

The City of Cape Town is in for a cold, wet and windy weekend.

Capetonians are urged to batten down their hatches for the gale force winds approaching.

SA weather bureau forecasted today's weather to be cloudy with strong winds but with no rainfall in sight, giving Cape Town a chance to enjoy a rainless day before the wet weekend arrives.

Winds are said to start picking up quite a bit as of Saturday, said Wilfred Solomons, spokesman for Disaster Risk Management. There will be gale force winds between Table Bay and Cape Agulas with rough sea conditions and waves of about five metres in height between Cape Agulas and Lamberts Bay.

More rain will be hitting Cape Town on Sunday.

Solomons explained that Capetonians are in for some cold wet weather, up until next week Wednesday.
