Sunyani — A former Brong-Ahafo New Patriotic Party (NPP) Youth Organizer, Alfred Ofori Annye, has urged party supporters to work hard and not to be deceived into thinking that the NDC government is not performing well.
According to him, it is time for NPP members to put their eyes and ears on the ground to identify the mistakes of the NDC government, and to ensure that their campaign promises are adhered to, instead of rejoicing over their preliminary mistakes, because it is too early to assess the government. "We need to put on microscopic lenses to observe the NDC very well and know the next strategy to use to win over them in 2008", he said.
Alfred Ofori Annye, who has declared his intention to contest the NPP Brong Ahafo regional Secretaryship, gave the advice in an interview with The Chronicle in Sunyani recently. He noted that every human being is a great asset and that NPP must value its members well, and offer them some training to build their capacities to be able to defend the party at all times.
"Human beings are needed for membership of political parties, and for that matter the party must be well organized by focusing on human resource development", he said, adding that "attaining standard is not as difficult as maintaining it. It is easy to be raised to a position, but difficult to use the position meaningfully".
The contestant also spoke against in-fighting and division in the party, and insisted that it would not help the party. "If you can talk, then talk against the NDC but not against an NPP member", he charged his fellow party members.
Mr. Annye, who is credited with opening four TESCON branches in the region, in addition to the existing Sunyani Polytechnic branch, is noted for his astute leadership qualities.
He told this reporter that he is best suited for the position because he is industrious, a unifier, team player, dependable and reliable, very analytical, puts party first, principled, sociable, approachable and very humane.
"These are the qualities the party needs in a Secretary to bridge the gab between the youth and the regional secretariat", he said.
