Gambia: Bench Warrant for Accused Person

The Kanifing Magistrates Court, presided over by Magistrate B O Jobe, on Wednesday, issued a bench warrant for the arrest of one Abdou Jallow.

The accussed is facing trial for attempting to obtain money under false pretense. The issue of the bench warrant came up when Corporal 525 Jawo told the court that the accused had not attended court sittings for two consecutive times and had never written to explain the reason for his absenteeism. He consequently applied for the accused to be arrested and brought before the court.

Jallow, on the 7th of August, 2009, at Serrekunda Market, was said to have attempted to obtained money from one Omar Bah through false pretense.He has vehemently denied any wrongdoing.
