One Mustapha Drammeh was recently ordered by the Kanifing Magistrates Court, presided over by Magistrate B O Jobe, to return some motor vehicles he was said to have obtained by false pretense.
In his judgement, the presiding magistrate told the court that the convict was facing two counts of obtaining money by false pretense and obtaining goods by false pretense as well. He indicated that the charge of obtaining money by false pretense was later withdrawn with the consent of the prosecution and the defense counsel.
According to the prosecution, the convict sometime in 2008, in the Kanifing Municipality, with intent to defraud, obtained from one Bakawsu Jakana, a Peugeot valued at D130,000, one Mini truck valued at D200,000, a BMW valued at D155,000 and a Chrysler valued at D80,000. He was said to have claimed that he had a plot of land to sell in exchange for the said vehicles. Cadet Inspector Mballow stood in for IGP.
