The Serrekunda West sport development committee is set to stage a basket ball competition at the Serrekunda West Basketball grounds.
Speaking to this reporter Alfred Njie the communication officer said, this is the first of its kind in the Gambia, and they are calling every interested team to come and register before the start of the competition.
He said any team that wishes to compete in the championship can register with a fee of D1000.
Mr. Njie said so far 4 teams have already registered so they are waiting for teams to register before the starting.
Njie said others are yet to come, and the competition will start on the 5 of November 2009 at Serrekunda West. He said the aim of this competition is to nurture basketball talents within the Gambian youths.
"Basket ball which is a dormant game in the country should be uplifted for young people to have a chance to be part of the game." he said.
He said when they organized this competition it will help the youth and those who are participating in this competition.
