Pa Sainey Jallow stood as an Independent Candidate during the 2007 National Assembly Election vying for the Serekunda East Constituency Seat. He is reported to have been a UDP Candidate by GRTS as it covered his defection to join the APRC.
Foroyaa reached Pa Sainey Jallow to find out what he actually informed the public. According to him he has been a mobiliser for the PPP and has decided to part ways with the party because of the claim that only one person is committed to the PPP and the rest are not willing to come out to make the party functional.
Foroyaa is again reminding GRTS that as a state media it should uphold section 208 of the constitution which states that:
All state owned newspapers, journals, radio and television shall afford fair opportunities and facilities for the presentation of divergent views and dissenting opinion.
Foroyaa is of the opinion that if any body claims to leave one party to join another, GRTS should also get the view of the party concern to confirm the story.
This will prevent embarrassing situations like that of Pa Sainey Jallow who now claims to have hailed from the PPP and not the UDP. Such announcements could cause conflict among political figures who may read ulterior motives in one and other's actions.
