Christians of the SS Peter and Paul Anglophone sociological Parish, Simbock in Yaounde have started mobilisation ahead of a grand harvest set for December 6, 2009.
People of the Donga Mantung community residing in Yaounde on Sunday October 25 during their culture Sunday cleared the harvest ground with over FCFA 1.5 million. Members of the harvest committee followed suite last Sunday raising a similar amount.
The exercise marked the beginning of the fund raising endeavour that will involve the participation of all socio-cultural and professional groups within the diocese and their well wishers. Their ambition is to come up with nothing less than FCFA 25 million at the end of the harvest period in order to pursue the Church building.
According to a programme made public by the harvest organising committee, next Sunday will be the turn of the lay apostolic groups while the men take their turn on November 15 to thank God for fatherhood.
The various professional groups earmarked for the harvest are educationist led by Dr. Justine Njika, business persons under Fidelis Niba, will take their turn on Sunday November 15, the judiciary with their leader being justice Fombe are billed for the same Sunday as well as the armed forces and the forces law and order working with Col. Doh and Col. Elokobi as well as Police Commissioner Mbule, media practitioners led by Mrs Ndikum Dorothy, medical personnel under Dr. Atabe Andrew and Finance and administrative personnel headed by Mr Moh Sylvester. All components of the congregation like students led by Emoh Emmanuel, the religious under Father Kizito and others led by Father Giles Ngwa are equally expected to demonstrate their determination to see the imposing Church house completed by generously contributing toward the project.
Cultural manifestations by the various ethnic groups in the parish are equally scheduled to spice the fund raising operation. General enthusiasm has been high among Christians of the Simbock parish toward the realisation of the Church building.
