David Mola, CEO, Mola Solaire Internationale, Germany, Guest of Honour at JERSIC 2009.

"In research like in any other thing, we have to begin from somewhere. Cameroon has a lot of potentials and I think that if everybody gets involved, the country could greatly improve in the future. I have a company and a production unit in Germany and have also created a company producing solar panel in the USA. I may create a production unit in Cameroon and my presence here on the occasion of JERSIC is to appraise the conditions here.

For an entrepreneur, he wants to see clear rules in the country. Besides the enabling environment, Cameroonians abroad need a double nationality as well as clearly defined rules for investment in the country. I am conscious of the fact that I have to do something for my country. But before that I have to be strong enough to do it. Negotiations are ongoing between me and some partners. Creating a company in the country means getting the right people who can do the job as well as a conducive working environment. The government of Cameroon which is the decision maker should partner with us researchers based abroad.

We are fully ready to contribute our quota to the country's development in the area of scientific research. There are challenges like energy crisis and as an expert in that domain I am very ready to bring in my contribution in solving the problem. But we need to put all efforts together to be able to surmount the challenges".
