Somalia: Truck Accident Kills 1, Injures 10 Others in Southern Somalia

Johwar — At least one passenger has been killed and 10 others have been wounded in a truck accident occurred near Run Nirgod village in Middle Shabelle region in southern Somalia, witnesses told Shabelle radio on Friday.

Locals said that the died passenger was a woman while the 10 others were all the passengers of a lorry which was from Harar dhere district in Galgudud region and traveling to Mogadishu saying that it turned over where about 1 kilometers to Run Nirgod village in Middle Shabelle region.

Residents said that the vehicle carried salt to the Somali capital Mogadishu.

More residents rushed to the area where the accident took place and started helping the victims and the truck accidents in the region are often caused by the rough streets in the county which causes more casualties of deaths and injures.

Mo'allin Amir, one of the residents in Middle Shabelle region told Shabelle radio more on the accident and said that it happened as the truck fell in a whole place near Run Nirgod village in the region.

It was only few days ago when such accident killed more than 5 people around the same area in Lower Shabelle region as there was water in the streets through the region.
