Nairobi — More than 30 ODM councillors from Ol-Kejuado county council are camping in Nairobi ahead of their chairmanship elections after the High court ordered a repeat of the polls.
A camp allied to the former chairman, Mr Ntaraiya ole Kores, has been in Nairobi for two weeks to strategise on how to recapture the seat, after six Orange Democratic Movement party's nominated councillors threw their weight behind the Party of National Unity candidate.
The move prompted Mr ole Kores to lead 15 other councillors and community elders to storm Orange House on Tuesday to demand the degazettement of the six councillors.
Speaking to the Nation on phone on Friday, Mr ole Kores accused ODM MP Joseph Nkaiserry of supporting the PNU candidate. Mr Nkaiserry is said to have defended his stand claiming mismanagement of the council.
The council is said to collect more than Sh250 million every year from the Amboseli National Park and other tourists camps. "This is about the 2012 elections and we are out to remove him from the seat," said Mr Kores.
The election is a bitter fight between PNU and ODM, which wants to retain the seat. The Ol-Kejuado elections were full of drama in August as the councillors shed tears after losing the seat.
