As preparation for the Beijing Plus15 Banjul meeting gets to an advanced stage, samaritans from all sectors of society are coming on board to be part of this rare historic event with donations in cash or kind.
The latest of such samaritans to donate towards the event was Trust Bank Gambia Limited, which donated D50, 000 towards the successful hosting of the event, at a presentation ceremony held at the Vice President?s Office at State House yesterday. Presenting the cheque to the vice president before a group of members of the organising committee, Oremi Joiner, the general manager of Trust Bank Ltd, told the vice president that his bank had deemed it important to come in to support the government in hosting the event. ?We as a Gambian owned bank feel it is our duty to come in and do the presentation of though a little token as our contribution to successful hosting of the event,? said the TBL boss.
According to him, the bank has realised the importance of the event for the country. He said The Gambia is one of the countries in the world which attracts many due to its peaceful nature. The TBL boss commended the security for maintaining peace in the country that has always motivated strangers to come to the country. Receiving the cheque, Her Excellency Aja Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy, the vice president and minister of Women?s Affairs, thanked Trust Bank Ltd for coming up to support the hosting of the event. She quickly put it to them that the contribution is not small and that it will go a long way in meeting the logistical requirement of the event.
She further used the opportunity to commend TBL for the services despite the increase in the competition of the banking industry in the country. She said that in recent times, the country has witnessed the flow of more banks in the country. ?Your contribution is not a small one, you have always been responding to us each time we knock at your doors, she concluded.
