Transcript of remarks by President Barack Obama of the United States and President Ian Khama of Botswana after a meeting in the Oval Office of the White House on Thursday November 5, 2009:
3:33 P.M. EST
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Hello, everybody. I just want to welcome President Khama to the Oval Office and to make a brief statement about Botswana and its relationship to the United States.
Although Botswana is not a large country, it is truly one of the extraordinary success stories in Africa. Since the mid-'60s it has moved on a path of good economic management and outstanding political governance. And as a consequence you have seen extraordinary improvements in living standards over the last 40 years in Botswana that really are an envy for much of the rest of the continent.
Not only has Botswana shown itself to be an outstanding success, but it's also been a great partner to the United States. And our governments have cooperated extensively throughout the years. President Khama I think has been showing his own extraordinary leadership in helping to move his country forward on a range of issues, from how to deal with the HIV/AIDS crisis to addressing economic development to dealing with some of the regional problems that exist. On each of these areas I think Botswana has bee a real leader.
And so we just want to express our appreciation for the outstanding work that successive governments in Botswana have been to able to accomplish. We are grateful for the friendship between the people of the United States and Botswana. And I'm looking forward to continuing that strong partnership in the years to come.
So, welcome.
PRESIDENT KHAMA: Thank you very much. I certainly passed on my appreciation to President Obama for having had the opportunity to meet with him and to share views about the bilateral cooperation that we have had between our two countries -- areas on trades, areas on health, and also to share how both countries are tackling this current economic downturn.
And we also had the opportunity to talk about environmental issues, climate change and the upcoming Copenhagen summit. And lastly, also about regional issues and how we can try and go about entrenching democracy both in the mindset and the way we go about all our activities on the continent, the African Union in particular.
And I would just like to thank you, Mr. President, once again for having given me this opportunity to share my thoughts with you. Thank you very much.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: Thank you.

I hope that African leaders get this message and be aware of solution and dangers available at the Copenhagen Climate Change Treaty.
A Better Solution - A Different Direction The goal is survival, food and good health. The goal is not investment, opportunities, and new technology.
There is no need for a UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December. They have no power to implement change and they only have a draft without details on how to proceed. On Sept 24, 2009 Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi, the Libyan leader reminded the world that when the nations signed the UN Preamble, details had to be filled in later. The later details did not line up with what the nations signed on to. It will be the same with this treaty.
God is against gathering of nations for leadership, wisdom, protection and provision. Each nation has God for all things if they use the wisdom He sent to them. Psalm 2: 4, 5 “He that sits in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. :5 Then shall He speak to them in His wrath, and vex them in His sore displeasure."
Climate Change is about the destruction man is making on the planet through the employment system. To cap some present businesses and promote others in the rest of the undeveloped world has no wisdom or effectiveness. It is an empty promise to gain control of nations. None of their efforts stop destruction of the planet from pollution, disease or war.
God has a simple SOLUTION. "Retire." Back out of our unnecessary employment lifestyle and turn to create a garden paradise lifestyle with each family choosing trees, plants and pets that provide fresh food around them. It is an abundant life with families together with true freedom and independence. It is the ONLY SOLUTION and it is sustainable through eternity.
The garden paradise lifestyle is a solution to world problems of climate change, pollution, energy crisis, war, immigration, reoccurring financial crises, disease, poverty, inequality, crime and social programs etc. It is quick, easy, fair and inexpensive. There is no need for the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference in December.

As a citizen of Botswana and an African, i am happy my president was able to meet up with the US president but i do not know much of what they talked about. i want to know more and if only leaders would talk more about ways to move Africa forward. I appeal to all our leaders to please take a short moment in their offices and just think hard on ways to improve lives of people on this continent. We are just tired of wars, famine and others hardships that African people needlessly die to.
You have black leaders in Africa; do not be overly impressed because the USA has one. God will test us in many ways. So be warned against the Copenhagen Climate Change Treaty.
