Somalia — MOGADISHU (Sh. M. Nwetwork ) - At least two people have been killed and five others injured after heavy fighting with bitter shelling between the Islamist fighters and transitional government troops started in the north of Somali capital Mogadishu, witnesses told Shabelle radio on Saturday.
Reports say that the fighting started on Saturday afternoon after the Islamist fighters attacked bases of the transitional government soldiers in the districts of Abdul Aziz and Bondere in the north of the capital Mogadishu killing 2, injuring five others as the both the warring sides exchanged heavy weapons.
Residents said that the most of the people who were killed and wounded were civilians adding that they died for the mortar shelling and heavy weapons landed their neighborhoods in the Somali capital Mogadishu.
Nevertheless there is no officials who talked about the fighting and the war follows several other string of clashes between the transitional government soldiers and Islamist fighters in the Somali capital Mogadishu.
