Kigali — BARELY four months after Brian Lara's visit, the cricket fraternity is already bracing themselves for a possible visit by Andrew Flintoff, one of the most celebrated cricketers of this era.
The England all-rounder normally referred to as Freddie has been tipped to tour Rwanda early next year.
According to an email addressed to Rwanda Cricket Association (RCA), ICC's senior development coordinator for Africa, Graham McMillan, the 31-year-old all-rounder is likely to tour the country in February, March or April.
It is not the first time Flintoff is being mentioned in Rwandan cricket circles.
In 2007, Freddie together with the British Prime minister Gordon Brown threw their weight behind a cricket coaches' clinic that was held at Kicukiro.
The six-day clinic, conducted by Cricket without Boundaries (CWB), a UK based charity organization, dedicated to helping, educating and developing local communities around the world through the growth of cricket revealed that Flintoff had provided financial and moral support for the tour.
Recently, Flintoff pledged his future to Lancashire by signing a three-year contract to play one-day cricket for the county.
"I have enjoyed many highs with England over the years, but I have not had the same success with Lancashire and that is something I want to address," he said.
