Kigali — Silverbacks's dream of winning a first regional trophy were dealt a severe blow, when they lost to Utl Kobs by 14-0 in the 17th edition of Hima Makerere 10s tournament at Kyadondo rugby ground in Kampala yesterday.
Silverbacks had finished in third place in group D thereby qualifying for the Bowl category where they thrashed Ugandan sides Rams and Mean Machine 20-0 and 7-0 respectively.
But Ugandan side Kobs which finished in second position in the Ugandan rugby league recently, proved to be too much for the Rwandan team.
Despite failing to win some silverware at the two day event, silverbacks coach Gerald Nsenga drew some positives from the team's performance at the event.
"We are disappointed to lose the final, but am satisfied with the overall performance from the boys, and we can draw a lot of positives from the fact that they managed to reach the final when they are so many good teams around," Nsenga told Times Sport by phone from Kampala.
The two-day tournament attracted 16 teams from Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Zambia.
