Uganda's coach Sam Meya will be a man under pressure when the fourth Club Beer sponsored International Beach Volleyball tournament takes centre stage at Lido Resort Beach in Entebbe today.
Meya named 27 strong teams (15 women and 12 men) for the two-day showpiece but the foreign legion from arch-foes Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania and debutantes Burundi pose a big threat.
"I'm not taking anything for granted. I have told my boys and girls to attack all that is in their way full throttle. We are not hot favourites and no one should think that the foreign park is going to be a walkover," said Meya on the eve of the tournament.
Uganda have won the men's title twice whereas Rwanda have lifted it once. Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda have each scooped the women's title once but Uganda have a psychological edge having made twice to the women's final.
Uganda hopes to use this event to rally stronger support for her bid to host the world cup qualifiers for this sub-zone next year.
Sports TV Uganda, Nile Breweries and Lido beach are some of the sponsors of the international showpeice.
