Kigali — SILVERBACKS open their Hima-Mak 10s campaign this morning against tournament hosts Hima Impis.

Last year, Rwanda's league champions Buffaloes were undone by a late try from the Makerere University side which earned the latter a slim13-12 win. The try meant that Buffaloes would not qualify past the semi-finals of the Plate Cup.

But Silverbacks head coach Gerald Nsenga is determined to guide his side to silverware.

"The lads are really fired up for this tournament, and they are keen to win something this year."

"We are going to take it game by game but the bottom line is we have to play well against Impis and Pirates," he noted. Silverbacks are drawn in Group D alongside Impis, Pirates and Summerkamp.

The two-day tournament has attracted 16 teams from Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Zambia.

The winner of the annual event will walk away with Rwf1.3m while the runners-up will pocket Rwf0.9m. MTN Heathens are the reigning champions.
