Kampala — JANET Achola and Adero Nyakisi are to spearhead Uganda Prisons' bid to retain title as the Inter-Forces Games open today.
The national team pair have a battle against former champions UPDF on the track.
"The track race is going to be tough. But we are prepared to hold onto the title. Definitely we are the team to beat," vowed Prisons sports officer Robert Mukyasi.
Jackson Kiprop, Asaf Tukwasibu and Geoffrey Chelangat are the men in long and middle distance, while Yunis Apollo, Moris Kinera and Sameul Achae line-up for the sprints.
The annual event will have athletes from UPDF, Police, Prisons and UWA competing in athletics, darts, football, handball, netball, volleyball and shooting.
Sports minister Charles Bakkabulindi is expected to grace the opening ceremony of the meet meant to promote fraternity and a good working relationship in the armed forces.
