Nigeria: Security Beefed Up in Yenagoa as Governors Meet

SECURITY was yesterday beefed up in Yenagoa as the governors of the other 35 states under the aegis of the Governors Forum arrived Bayelsa State Capital for a two-day meeting.

Armoured Personal Carriers, APCs, and patrol vehicles manned by men of the Nigeria Police and the Joint Task Force were stationed at the entry and exit points as well as other strategic locations in Yenagoa and environs.

Reacting to the governors meeting, the Action Congress (AC) in the state, through the acting chairman, Comrade Miriki Ebikibina, called on the governors to use the meeting to discuss and take a stand on issues that will impact positively on the lives of the people and the development of the nation.

And in a show of solidarity for the host governor, Chief Timipre Sylva, some politicians from Sagbama and Ekeremor council areas of the state yesterday rose from a meeting and announced their decision to adopt the governor for second term in the next governorship election.
