Kampala — THE outcome of the October 3rd meeting between President Yoweri Museveni and Kabaka Ronald Mutebi will be revealed to the Buganda Lukiiko (assembly) on Monday. The long-awaited briefing is likely to be made by the Katikkiro, Engineer J.B. Walusimbi.
The President and the Kabaka met at State House Entebbe after a stand-off between Mengo and the central government reached a climax in September, following a two-day riot in Kampala and parts of the central region. This was after the Police stopped the Katikkiro from visiting Kayunga district in preparation for the Kabaka's visit.
Briefing journalists at Bulange on Thursday, Buganda's information state minister Medard Sseggona said the pertinent issues to be discussed would include the Land Amendment Bill 2007 being debated in Parliament.
Recently, the National Resistance Movement caucus endorsed the passing of the Bill by the end of the year and the Buganda district chairpersons supported it, yet Mengo is opposed to it.
At the press conference, Apollo Makubuya, the kingdom's Attorney General, said the annual Buganda Conference, code named Ttabamiruka, would be held on December 17, at Hotel Africana.
More than 1,000 participants from within Uganda and from the diaspora are expected to attend the function.
