Zambia: MP Prods Govt to Finish Road Works

LUNDAZI Central Member of Parliament, Mkhondo Lungu has appealed to the Government to quickly source for money for the completion of the remaining 78km stretch of the Chipata-Lundazi Road.

In an interview, Mr Lungu said the Reubex Construction Company had done a good job on the 100km stretch from Chipata to Champoyo area but the remaining 78km of the same road to Lundazi was still in a deplorable state.

He said the Government should work on a number of feeder roads in Lundazi central that have not been worked on for a long time now.

Mr Lungu, who is UNIP Member of Parliament, said a number of development projects had taken place in his constituency such as the construction of clinics and new schools but feels the Government could still do better.

"Development is continuity. Yes, in my tenure as area Member of Parliament more schools, clinics have been built but I feel more should be done. The Government should build more teachers' houses in Lundazi," he said.

Mr Lungu said it was sad that some teachers were still living in deplorable houses the situation he said was demoralising teachers.
