Jos — Nigeria and the United Kingdom are to strengthen existing community development projects and promote community participation in order to ensure sustainability in both countries.
This was revealed in a statement by the Jos/ United Kingdom Programme Supervisor, Amina Akano. According to Akano, the programme is to be actualized through the partnership of a British based organization Global Xchange in conjunction with British Council through the International exchange activities (Community Xchange).
She added that 15 participants from Bradford (UK) will arrive Jos November 15th to join their Nigerian colleagues who were in UK between September 27th and October 17th (First phase) as a return visit to work for three weeks in fulfilment of the Nigeria (Second phase) of the programme.
According to her, the Community Xchange is a six week international development programme for formal and informal community practitioners over the age 21 who have experience of working with young people which is made up of 30 professionals comprising of Community, Faith, Nongovernmental organizations as well as the media, security agencies, traditional rulers and community leaders among others.
