Abuja — The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday said the call on Nigerians to give the nation's leadership the 'Ghanaian treatment'by Alhaji Buba Galadima is an attempt to overthrow Umaru Yar'adua-led government.
Galadima, the Secretary of The Buhari Organization (TBO) was quoted in an interview over the weekend to have demanded that 'Ghanaian treatment' be meted out to Nigerian ex-leadership. PDP National Publicity Secretary, Prof. Rufai Ahmed Alkali, described the comment as reckless and treasonable.
He said: "Alhaji Galadima was quoted in the interview to have called for the "Ghanaian treatment" which is a direct call for the overthrow of the current democratic dispensation through violent means. By this, he is referring to the coming of Flt Lt. JJ Rawlings in Ghana in 1979 during which all former Ghanaian leaders were summarily executed. In this context, he is not only calling for the overthrow of this government, he is also calling for the elimination of all former Nigerian leaders to pave way for his weird political agenda."
He added, "We have had cause in the recent past to alert Nigerians of the destructive antics of our opposition, including their intemperate use of language while venting their frustration. Nigerians will recall that earlier in the year, Buba Galadima had canvassed this bloody option in a similar manner and we wonder why Galadima should continue to tread this dangerous path.
"Nigeria under President Umaru Yar' adua is now a stable, democratic and peaceful nation that is globally appreciated and celebrated as evidenced by her unanimous election into the Security Council of The United Nations. We cannot therefore be distracted by revisionist rantings from anti-democratic elements who see nothing good in others except themselves.
