Nigeria: Conveying God's Potent Messages Through

7 November 2009

Lagos — "I am not black; I am Nigerian - two totally different things please note!" "Do you hear me singing freedom songs like I'm in Soweto?" "What's the point in calling on God if He will not deliver on His promises to His covenant children, we might as well be servicing Babalawos!" These are some of the humorous yet salient remarks you will hear from the mouth of Reverend Obii Pax -Harry, when you hang around her long enough.

These remarks come definitely not as a mockery of God Almighty, but in absolute confidence in His ability as the Most High to cater for His own. "Indeed, God has given me a mouth to boast," she says in one of her amazing sermons at the House on the Rock Church, Enugu, leaving the congregation in their thousands totally mystified.

Reverend Obii Pax Harry can be best described as a mystery and a gift to Africa in these turbulent times. She is known for her cutting edge ministry. With this amazing woman of God, there are no short cuts, no cutting corners. With her, it's God or nothing. "We really must get to the point where we have to declare God as the absolute, no matter what our circumstances are. Yes, we have to declare that God is God whether we are single, married, barren, destitute...it does not matter - we have to declare that He is Lord." "Only radical holiness will change things in Africa."

Little wonder people from all works of life are drawn to her. She's been described as a firebrand by people high up in the governmental circles, even pastors and other revered men and women of God seek to hear the voice of God through her. Her divine calling and spiritual gifts have caused many a tongue to wag. "You cannot be connected to Pastor Obii and not have things work in your life," says one. "Has she given you a word from God yet, asks another," "Not only has she given me a word, my encounter with her put me on a journey of life," was the response. Indeed Pastor Obii as she is fondly called is as mysterious as she is open. "I really must try to take myself a bit more seriously," she says with pure unadulterated modesty, clearly oblivious to the stir around her. This was when one of her many compelling articles was converted into a working document with the hope of transforming one of the major cities in Nigeria.

Reverend Harry is loyal to only one Supreme Being- the Almighty God. It doesn't matter who needs her attention - from her dashing and ever doting husband to her three adorable children or the innumerable people who have come to call her 'mama.' The Almighty God comes first. With her you take her or leave her, love her or hate her. It really doesn't matter; as long as she is out there doing the will of God. Everything else is secondary.

Perhaps this is why people congregate in droves every two months at the prestigious Transcorp Hilton to hear her speak in her programme - "Breakfast with the King," now in its third year." It's indeed a beautiful outing. You get to hear the ever so potent word of God in a relaxed manner and top it up with a scrumptious breakfast. However, the recent meeting in October was very different. There was no breakfast! "Man shall not live by bread alone," Harry declared. Indeed with her you never know what to expect. Perhaps, she merely voiced the thoughts of an unpredictable but very certain God. That particular meeting was serious business. It was time to hear God's voice for 2010. Being a highly prophetic person, the message had to come when it did and not wait for the usual stereotyped manner of announcements on New Year's Eve, as with numerous Faith- Based Organisations. "We are living in 2010 now, she says." What else did she say and what do we need to look forward to, or rather how are we to conduct our lives from this moment onwards?

However, before going into 2010, it may be necessary to go back a few years. Her book Prayer for Nigeria - the Esther Call, was written in response to what God told her in the years 2003 and 2004 concerning Nigeria: "God spoke to me concerning Nigeria in 2003 to reveal that the next President of Nigeria after President Obasanjo will be a Cyrus to the nation. The interpretation in line with the word of God concerning the biblical Cyrus indicated that he will not be a Christian but will be a man whose heart God can use. He said Nigeria's government will again be led by a Northerner who is also a Muslim. The Lord also called this person a friend to His church and to the South." "I see a minority candidate for Vice Presidency of Nigeria of Nigeria in 2007. I see a man from a minor town in a minor state being raised for "such a time as this." "I see shaking coming to the body of Christ. I see many mighty men of God humbled, as accusations, slander, gossip is released, leading many to re-examine their ways. I see a Baton Change as the Lord raises young spirit filled, prophetic voices that will begin to call the nation to return to God - in a John the Baptist type mantle." "I see many women who have believed God for the blessing of the fruit of the womb suddenly receiving physical manifestation of God's promise over their lives.

I see a season of baby boom, as many who have waited for years to bear their biological seed start to walk in fulfilment of God's covenant of fruitfulness and multiplication. This (i.e. children born to older women and children trusting God for years to have their own children) will be a prophetic of the healing of the nations' wounds and deliverance of Nigeria from spiritual, political, economic and social barrenness." "Solid minerals and other natural resources will be discovered in commercial quantities from 2004 onward yielding the nation much wealth. I saw a bargain made with the enemy by a late past military president of Nigeria. I saw the nation being mortgaged to the enemy through wizardry and high level witchcraft imported from a foreign nation." "The church must pray for revelation and strategy to break, destroy and nullify the effects of the said covenant. I saw God's fury coming down on the judiciary in Nigeria for corruption should the church not cry out for mercy. I see the shed blood of the innocent crying out for judgement. The church must pray for spiritual landmarks in Abuja that hold the key to the mystery of the capital city's liberation from sexual spirits. At the centre of Abuja lies a mystery that cannot be seen with human eyes. I see a need to unlock the heart of Nigeria, true repentance and deliverance will release blessings of the nation to flow freely to its citizens says the Lord."

The Lord spoke to her about all this in 2003 and 2004. This same God according to her has spoken to her about 2010 - about seven years later. The number seven is known as the number of completion in the Pentecostal circles.

"The year 2010 is a year of greater manifestation of apostolic destiny", she says, According to this prophetess, 2010 is a year that we have to grasp and understand the manifestation of our destiny. "Next year will be a year where people will see clearly what God has done in their lives. It is a year where God will come to judge the pompous with His words, and a time of manifestation of the saints."

"Be prepared to be shot out as a 'God Missile' and when shot you must hit the mark. Authority is a mystery - take authority like you've never known it," she says quoting God's word in Job 24:1, "Why does the Almighty not set times for judgement? Why must those who know Him look in vain for such days?"

'Spiritual Constituency', 'govern' and 'transaction' are words with which we must get acquainted in 2010 says Reverend Harry. She also described this unique year as a new cycle of time and a year of unveiling divine mysteries. We will experience the burning bush experience, just like Moses did, hear the truth and be commissioned to a new level.

A separation of times is also a dynamic of 2010, many will have to go their separate ways the way Abraham and Lot did, not necessarily as a result of bad influences, but because blessings are being intermingled and it is necessary for each one to find their own destiny, territory and sphere of influence. "Things will separate naturally. It is about ascending into a new place," she says.

Harry says we should not be ignorant of the wiles of the devil in these significant times. "The devil works with history - he tracks things you have forgotten. His chief weapons are confusion and delay, but those same weapons - confusion and delay will bring you favour." "The year 2010 is a year of clearer vision, a year of reparation, fullness of birth, and an emergence of the body of Christ. Familiar spirits and generational curses will not track us into this new place in 2010. It is a full manifestation of God's gifts into the body of Christ where there will be no confusion. " She describes Nigeria as a place where her colours have been diluted. " Colour dilution is a sign of compromise, but there are exceptions despite the harsh prevalence of compromise."

"The church must return," Harry declares with boldness. Many are very quick to declare personal prophesies over their congregations for all the wrong reasons. "Oh... you will be married...Marriage is your right by covenant anyway. Oh yes...I declare that you will be blessed financially...it's in God's word anyway! I do not have time to give personal prophesies. I am called to nations; however, to change a nation, God will change individuals who will effect change in their nation."

The Spirit of God is calling on the church - the bride of Christ, says Harry. She believes the kingdom of darkness has out sacrificed the church, and thrones of iniquity abound, which have challenged the word of God as the church has not fully come to terms with who they really are, citing God's word the book of Daniel as an example. Daniel 7:25 "He will speak against the Most High and oppress His saints and try to change the set times and the laws. The saints will be handed over to him for a time, times and half a time."

The year 2010 is a year where your destiny as an ENFORCER of God's will must manifest a kingly anointing. One must move into greater manifestation, enjoying the tangibility of one's throne, she says quoting scriptures in the book of Daniel "As I looked, thrones were set in place and the Ancient of Days took His seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of his head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire and its wheels were all ablaze. A river of life was flowing coming out from before him. Thousands upon thousands attended him; ten thousands times ten thousands stood before him. The court was seated and the books were opened." Daniel 7:9-10

Daniel 7:18. "But the saints of the Most High will receive the kingdom and possess it forever - yes forever and ever."

There is an abundance of grace to make this happen, she says. "Outstanding blessings will come next year as God rewards those who diligently seek Him. What you strived for in the past, you will not strive for in 2010."

After giving these very profound words for 2010 at this very solemn gathering, the miraculous happened yet again - a move of the spirit of the Most High God. Each attendee at the breakfast meeting went home with a personal prophesy, which would be instrumental for their sphere of influence. "This could have only come from God," says a clearly exhausted Reverend Harry - exhausted after heading almost immediately to that crucial meeting from the United Kingdom after back to back teachings in different churches. "I am not into personal prophesies," she reiterates. However, that awesome meeting was not about her. It was about conveying God's message, and if it meant her going against what she believed in then so be it. People came into that meeting hungry for different things. Perhaps food was paramount on their list of requirements, but indeed they went away full.

Reverend Obii Pax Harry is indeed an enigma- a legend of these end times. She was part of a group conversation where they reminisced about the things they enjoyed doing as children. While some were obsessed with television, homemaking and just being girly, she unapologetically said that the only thing she was ever good at when she was a child was fighting. Of course that was the end of that conversation! However, she did give her life to Jesus at the tender age of 11 years, which may have an indication of a shift of her various battles from the physical to the spiritual. She is a lawyer by profession, and her works of literature are fast becoming one of the most sought after within and beyond the shores of Nigeria. Her daily devotional, Arise and Shine is a case in point. She's got calls all over saying how apt and timely the messages are, she's got very low income earners in remote parts of the country join the bandwagon, killing many birds with one stone by reselling these devotionals thereby earning extra wages for themselves and spreading the gospel - indeed who has despised small beginnings? Her prophetic masterpiece, Issachar Mandate won the Fred Grossmith Bronze Writers Award just six weeks after its release. It has now been translated into Korean and sold in that part of the world.

"I really must start to take myself seriously," says Pastor Obii, as she is fondly called by many. It doesn't matter whether she takes herself seriously. One thing is certain - people dotted around the world do.
