Nigeria/Kenya: Enyeama Puts Eagles' Fate in God's Hands

9 November 2009

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama has put the Super Eagles chances of qualifying for the South Africa 2010 world cup in God's hands.

Presently, Tunisia, who play away to Mozambique this weekend in last match of Group B are at the top of the summit with two points advantage and could only fail to pick the group sole ticket only if the Super Eagles win the same day away to the Harambee Stars of Kenya, while the North Africans are beaten in Maputo.

Speaking from his base in Israel, the Hapoel Tel Aviv shot stop said the Eagles will do their best and hope for God's favour at the expense of Tunisia.

"Personally, I don't like putting things on my mind. Not withstanding the result of the other game, I just want to go in there and play my game and leave the rest to God.

"What will be, will be. I just believe God will give us a good day in Kenya, where we go there and make Nigerians happy. "I don't want to put the result of the Tunisian game in my mind and head. If I am being called, then I am being called upon to work hard,' he said.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles' team coordinator, Emmanuel Attah has defended the invitation of Mikel Obi in the squad for this weekend decisive game against the Harambee Stars.

Mikel, who has been out of action for some weeks now due to injury was a surprise inclusion in the 21-man list drawn by Coach Shaibu Amodu for the game. "We only have it in mind that a player will recover. Mikel has been training with the team and he trained very well up till the last day of the match against Mozambique in Abuja," said Attah.

"Against the Mambas of Mozambique, he trained fully with the team and we all knew it was a matter of time for him to recover.

"He has resumed training fully with Chelsea. So, let's see what happens this weekend - if he will be listed. But, all I know is that Mikel is in the 223-man list of the Super Eagles," he said.
