Kampala — A UPDF soldier on Thursday testified against a Makerere University (MUK) lecturer who is on trial over forgery of academic papers. Joab K.Yebazibwe told the court that Goddy Muhumuza used his papers to gain admission into the Nakawa National College of Business Studies.
The school was later taken over by the Makerere University Business School.
Muhumuza, a lecturer at Makerere University's law faculty, allegedly committed the offence in 1988, with intention to defraud, according to the prosecution.
Yebazibwe, Muhumuza's former school mate at Ntare School, said he was disturbed when he heard that he had been admitted for studies at Nakawa yet he had not applied there.
He said when he investigated, he discovered that Muhumuza was impersonating him.
MUBS registrar Ann Begumisa, who also testified against Muhumuza, said they admitted him under registration number, DB/NAIL/00/90, as Yebazibwe Muhumuza K, a student from A' Level.
She confirmed that the name of the student on the admission letter was white washed.
Yebazibwe also stated that he did a Bachelor's degree in Economics at Makerere University and has never received any admission to any other institution. He asaid he has never permitted any one to use his papers for admission to any institution.
