Uganda: High Court Jails Defiler for 12 Years

Kampala — THE High Court in Fort Portal has sentenced a man, who defiled a girl on September 5, 2004, to 12 years' imprisonment.

Court presided over by Justice Dan Kiiza, heard that Godfrey Mugisha of Kadindimo village, Rwiimi sub-county on that day found the victim at her home playing with other children and sent her to buy cigarettes.

He then followed and pounced on her in a nearby banana plantation. Mugiha, who was caught in the act by the victim's sister, offered sh10,000 to both girls in exchange for their silence.

The matter was reported to the Kadindimo village LC 1 chairman and Mugisha was arrested and handed over to Police.
