Governor Timipre Sylva of Bayelsa, said in Yenagoa, yesterday that the state airport project would gulp N45 billion.
Sylva, who made this known when he signed three bills into law, said the project was expected to be completed by 2011.
Speaking after signing the bills, Sylva said that the airport, which was very crucial for the development of the state, would be fast-tracked.
The bills are the Bayelsa Capital City Development Authority (CCDA) Amendment, State Debt Management Office and the Bayelsa State Bond Bills 2009.
Sylva said that the state government had earmarked N100 billion for the construction of three roads in each of the senatorial districts.
The laws, he said, would provide a platform for government to execute projects that would impact on generations yet unborn in the state.
The governor stressed the need to set up a Debt Management Office in line with the federal government directive to establish such offices in all the 36 states of the federation.
He called on the state house of assembly to pass laws that would ensure the protection of the environment as well as security of oil installations.
