Botswana: Official Denies Masitaoka Takeover

Uniao Flamengo Santos' manager, Mosupi 'Super' Keatlaretse has denied that he is planning to take over First Division side Masitaoka.

"I am Flamengo Santos' manager and I have no intentions of buying or taking over any team. I am happy where I am and I want things to remain like that," Keatlaretse said.

Although he denied that he was interested in taking up any position at Masitaoka, Keatlaretse conceded that he has a soft spot for the Molepolole First Division club. "That is my team, I have captained it.

"I have been in different positions (in the committee) until I left because of the differences that I had with the management.

"Obviously when I left Masitaoka, I was not happy but I put that behind me after I joined Santos as manager," he said.

Despite his acrimonious departure, Keatlaretse rarely misses the team's games. "As I have said, that is my team, it is a team from my home village and having captained it some years back, I have developed a bond with it. I am always interested in knowing what is happening at the club," he explained.

He said that the club officials have asked him to find a chairman for them but up to now, he has not found a suitable person.

Keatlaretse and former Gaborone United chairman Kelesitse Gilika, have been tipped to take over the Molepolole outfit. Gilika once played for Masitaoka, who narrowly survived relegation last season. The club has been going through rough times in recent years. A decision was reached last year that it should be run as a private entity. However, after Sport Ambassadors Consortium took over, the situation became worse with the club performing below par. It only survived relegation because Jwaneng Comets won promotion to the Premier League ahead of First Division North side, Miscellaneous.
