Former Sharks and Bayelsa United striker, Emma Nwachi has stated that it was his desire for a new challenge that made him dump Bayelsa United for Dolphins.
Nwachi shocked the football world when he announced he was leaving Bayelsa United who are the Nigerian League champions to join Dolphins who just gained promotion to the Premier League.
"When I left Sharks to Bayelsa United two seasons ago I wanted to win the League and play on the continent," Nwachi said.
"Now we have played in the CAF Confederation Cup and we just won the League to play in the CAF Champions League so I told myself it was time to move on and get a new challenge."
"Now Dolphins are not new to titles but having been relegated and just returning to the top I think it will be a good place to fight for a return to the continent."
Nwachi will have a big fight on his hands as he tries to displace other regular attackers, Obinna Amakor, Captain Ejindu, Danjuma Abdulahi amongst others of their place in the starting line up of the team.
As hostilities resume on November 18, the issue of poor performance by refs is one aspect of the league Dolphins coach, Stanley Eguma, will want to see improvement in the Globacom Premier League.
The former Heartland manager told Saturday League Special that it was very early in the season for refs' performance to be questioned, even as he stressed that the 2009/10 season will be very exciting.
"At Dolphins, we are back in training and the boys are rearing to go. However, I want to use this medium to appeal to the league body on the need for a remarkable improvement in the aspect of officiating. The truth remains that with the results that have turned in before the start of the break, I am optimistic that we are going to see a remarkable improvement in the league," he remarked.
"Hopefully, when action commences after the U-17 World Cup, Dolphins will be working towards improving on our position on the league log. We hope that all clubs are allowed to contest in a free, fair and healthy competition," Eguma advised.
