THE Anambra government is to relocate the Comprehensive Girls High School, Umunya, in Oyi local council area of the state to pave way for NYSC permanent orientation camp.
The state governor, Mr. Peter Obi, made the disclosure on Thursday, during the swearing-in ceremony of batch 'C' corps members at the NYSC Umunya camp ground.
Although Obi did not disclose the new site for the school, he said the relocation would allow for a befitting infrastructural development of the camp.
He, however, promised to provide the immediate needs of the camp and gave the assurance that the state government would make the corps members' experience in the state worthwhile.
The governor urged the corps members to be part of the re-orientation of a nation they would be proud of.
"We have no other country and so we must together build Nigeria and stop various abuses that are prevalent among us," he said.
In his remarks, the Anambra Coordinator of NYSC, Mr. Joseph Apaleokha, disclosed that a total of 1,054 corps members, including 574 males and 480 females were registered at the camp.
Apaleokha further disclosed that all the states of the federation except the Federal capital Territory (FCT) were represented.
He commended the governor for his assistance in ensuring a befitting NYSC camp for the state and promised to coordinate the 88 NYSC member staff in the state to adequately supervise the corps members from short changing the state of their service.
The highlight of the ceremony was the administration of oath by the Chief Judge of Anambra, Justice Paul Obidigwe.
