Abuja — National vice chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, North-West zone, Dr Danladi Sankara, has reaffirmed the party's commitment to wrest Kano State from the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in 2011.
Dr Sankara's statement was obviously a reaction to a press release from the office of the senior special assistant of the executive governor of Kano State, which condemned the mandate of the national chairman of the PDP, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor. According to a press statement by Sankara, their return as the ruling party in the state would be easy because majority of the people in the state were fed up with the serial deceit and prevarication which had become the hallmark and status symbol of the ANPP administration, hence the resolve of the party to embark on a rescue mission to offer the people a new lease of life. The statement read in part, "The good people of Kano State are yearning for change, and emancipation from a system sustained through deceit and exploitation for purely selfish political gains.
It is that desired change the PDP has offered to provide to pilot Kano State to greater progress and genuine development. The North-West zonal leadership of the PDP reaffirmed the position of its national chairman, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor when he tasked the Kano State leadership of the party to mobilise for positive action that would translate to comprehensive electoral victory for the party of the state in 2011. He said Kano State was traditionally a PDP stronghold and that the people had made up their minds to free themselves from the shackles of political isolation hoisted by a party constricted to just a corner of the country," the statement read.
