Abuja — A 34-year-old indigene of Delta State, Mr Peter Oloba has petitioned the inspector-general of police, Ogbonna Onovo over threats to his life by his relative over a contentous family rubber plantation.

He said he was not safe in his home state and has to run away to seek refuge with a relative in Paris, France because of the alleged desperation of his relative to snuff life out of him.According to his petition dated 15th October, 2009, Oloba said the plan of the unnamed relation was to forcefully take over and manipulate the will left for him by his late father."It all started on 13th of October 2008 when I lost my father and according to the will he left behind, I am to inherit his rubber plantation in Ologbo Delta State as his third son. But to my greatest surprise, some members of the family are strongly against my inheriting the land and have since been threatening my life by saying that I should choose between the land and my life and that if I know what is good for me, I should give the land documents to them and stay away from the land.

This I did not take serious until one night when some men armed with guns came to my house to demand for the land document from me but I was lucky to outsmart them by saying that I was not Peter, but his friend, and that Peter was out of town. They ransacked the whole house, beat me up and asked me to tell Peter that they will definitely fish him out no matter where he hides. I thank God that I escaped death that night', Oloba lamented. He is pleading with the Inspector-general of police and the Delta State commissioner of police to protect his family and property from the hands of these desperate persons and to carry out an investigation in order investigate to bring to book those who want to kill him.Speaking to our correspondent on phone from his hideout in France, Oloba said," My brother, I was afraid for my life and had to run.

I arrived Paris this morning but had to call to give more insight into what is happening, after putting together a petition. I could have abandoned this struggle but for my other family members who will be dispossessed of this inheritance, so I want to help. It is only the police that can help to bring the assassins to book and guarantee the family security'.On when he will come back home to continue the fight, he added, 'I don't know, but of course until the whole matter subsides, and until peace and order is restored'.
