Nigeria: Jigawa to Get N1.2 Billion High Court Complex

Dutse — Jigawa State government has re-awarded the contract for the construction of a High Court complex in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, which will gulp N1.2 billion. The Chairman of Dutse Capital Development Authority, Alhaji Bashir Aminu, disclosed this while briefing newsmen during the handing over of the site to the contractors handling the project.

Aminu explained that the contract was rewarded to Messr Lodginia Nig. Ltd. He noted that re-awarding the contract followed the revocation from Messr Hydrod Construction Company, which was handling the project initially. The chairman further noted that the state government was fully committed to the construction of the high court complex and all other offices lacking in the state capital. According to him: "Due to the importance we attach to service delivery, the government would not condone breaching contractual agreement by the contractor in any form; government would not hesitate to revoke any contract."

He advised the new contractor to expedite action on the work, saying, "The state government is fully ready to meet its obligation includin g prompt payment upon the certificate of completion". In his response, the Project Manager of the company Mr. Ciro Scandella, assured the government that his company was determined to abide by the contractual agreement, which includes quality work and completion on stipulated time. He noted that the company had already put in place all machineries and equipment for mobilising to site and the immediate take off of the project.
