Arusha — Save Our Souls (SOS) disadvantaged and orphaned children's village has trained 40 villagers round their centre on use of information technology for one year.
This was disclosed by the Director of SOS Village, Mr. Kiros-Aregawi at this year's combined Standard Seven and Form IV graduation ceremony at the Hermann-Gmeiner School famous by the name of SOS Village. The school is located in Ngaramtoni, north-west of Arusha municipality.
Aregawi said SOS invited Form Four and Six leavers who lived in their vicinity to the one year computer course sponsored through external funding.
The course aimed at helping the unemployed school leavers be self reliant through own projects or employment after acquiring computer literacy.
Meanwhile, SOS vocational studies department has identified two talented children, Denis John and Joseph Aminiel and gave them a scholarship for further studies in Ghana.
The vocational studies trainer at SOS Village, Emmanuel Fanuel said this year alone eight special talents children particularly in fine art had been identified and awarded prizes.
Fanuel said some of his children's artistic work such as beading and painting has been exported to countries such as the US, Germany and Norway.
The artwork attracted admirers abroad. For example, an elephant painting valued at US Dollars 50 was exported to Norway as a souvenir and a leopard painting to the US at US Dollars 270.
