The community of Lamin, spearheaded by the Paramount Chief Alhaji Demba Sanyang, in collaboration with Banutu Business College, last Saturday, embarked on a massive cleaning exercise (set-settal) on the Lamin- Brikama highway.
Speaking to the Daily Observer shortly after the exercise, the paramount chief, Alhaji Demba Sanyang, thanked the people of Lamin for answering to the call of the Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, for people to clean their environment.
He described cleanliness as next to godliness. The paramount chief expressed delight at the large turn out of the people and urged them to keep up the momentum. The National Assembly member for Kombo North, Hon. Adama Cham, thanked the Banutu Business College for participating in such national issues and called on the others to emulate them.
The proprietor of Banutu Business College, Micheal Banutu Gomez, said his institution is part of the community and that any programme the community have, they will participate in it. He spoke at length about the importance of the cleaning exercise and called on the youths to work hard.
