As tourists begin to storm the country for winter holidays, vendors in the craft markets are of high hope that this year's tourist season will be better than that of last year's.

The Daily Observer, on Tuesday, went around the Bakau Craft Market to sound the opinions of the vendors about their expectations of this year's tourist season. Oumie Gaye, a vendor at the craft market expressed optimism that the season will be far better than last year's, noting that last year's tourist season was not really good for them due to the global economic crisis which made their businesses dormant.

According to her, expectations are high as they are expecting a different tourist season. For his part, Dawda Beye, also a vendor, said they have craft items and traditional cloths that the tourists will appreciate. He observed that the past season was not encouraging as they didn't have much profit. He commended the Gambian leader for making the country a peaceful one which encourages tourists to come for holiday.

Bintou Mbye also expressed optimism of good season. Mustapha Joof, also a vendor, told the Daily Observer how prepared he is for the season as he is expecting a good tourist season this year. Many who spoke to the Daily Observer were optimistic of a better season this time.
