S/K East Basket Ball Programme coordinator, Alfred Andrew Njie admitted that Basket ball is one of the sport games on the brink of collapse if talents under this sector of sports are not rescued.
Asked as to what is the reason for the infamousness of the sport, he pointed out that it is due to the growing popularity of football that is currently at the helm of affairs in all sport games.
"Many concentrate on football more than Basketball and as a result of this, the sport (football) had turned the attention of most of the Basketball players we used to have.
Njie however divulged that they are tirelessly working in conjunction with SWISS in their attempt to raise the game to stand firm on it's feet and for that reason they are on the verge of organizing a Basketball tournament open to all Basketball teams.
"SWISS is trying to revive it with me as we are to organize a tournament for all Basket ball teams and currently we have only had four teams out of the earlier planned sixteen team tournament. In short, he meant that with all efforts of revival some teams are not serious because "I have been calling them since last month and now the final day is dated 15th November."
Alfred is pleading with the authorities concerned with basketball to come to their rescue in providing them with better equipment
