Gambia: Pencha Clinch Knock Out Cup

Pencha F.C have clinched the knock out cup after defeating Ajax by 5-4 in a penalties shoot out at the Serrekunda West Football Field.

Pencha clinched the trophy in a thrilling game, against Ajax, without any record card as in the previous game.

Ajax this time also opened the score sheet, in the second half before their opponents leveled in the same half.

Both Ajax and Pencha hail from Dippa Kunda. As mentioned by the Ajax Coach Francis Mendy, "This is not an easy game." Mendy believed that luck was not on his side, while there should be one winner.

Ajax and Pencha both played 15 minutes goalless in the first half. Ajax had an opportunity in the first half but they squandered it.

In the 32nd minute Ajax No 12 Modou Ngaideh sent a powerful shot but it was a little wide.

The first half ended in a goalless draw, but in the second half just 5 minutes in the half Aziz Keita the Captain headed the opener from a corner of Kemo Baldeh to take the lead.

In the 55th minute Pencha re-asserted themselves through a corner kick when Muhammed Fayanka leveled the score with a header, and the game resulted in a 1 all draw. This gave rise to a penalty shootout which Pencha won, with a cheque of D15,000 while the runners up had D10,000.

On his part Assistant Coach of Pencha Abdoulie Ann said he is very glad winning the game, noting that they will be crowned champions.
