Vice Chairman of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area (LGA), of Edo state, and a Akin Agbaje, who decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Action Congress (AC), on Tuesday alleged that his life was in danger, following series of harassments purportedly plotted by his boss, Mr. Johnson Emasealu.
Agbaje informed correspondents in the state weekend, that his official car was attacked, through a tracking device he said was installed in some official cars in the council secretariat, which he alleged was carried out by a relation to his boss.
He stated that the contractor told him in confidence that his car was attacked because the council still owed him. Agbaje argued that there were other such cars which were not demobilized.
He however promised to be loyal to the chairman and together would work with him to move the council forward irrespective of belonging to different political party.
At the time of filing this report, the council chairman could not be reached, through his mobile phone while one of aides declined comment on the issue.
Meanwhile, the new decampee members from PDP told Daily Champion that they left PDP, because of problem of internal democracy in the party and assured to work with the state government, to move the state forward.
According to the former vice chairman Edo Central of the PDP, Henry Okhoro and the PDP woman leader in the area, Mrs Evelyn Igbafe who spoke on behalf of the decampees said they were no longer comfortable with the imposition of leaders in the party.
Igbafe said: "At various levels of the party organization, 'the leaders' were imposed.
The slogan of the local party leaders in such circumstances is that they have got 'instructions from above'.
The rule of one man has replaced the party election machinery. She further said: "It is a fundamental truth of life that freedom is in the heart of all human beings; that freedom is irrepressible; that freedom is indestructible.
"For this reason, people are prepared to suffer injustices, oppression, repression, suppression and usurpation for as long as they can bear, and for as long as this is possible, but certainly not all time".
Also, some of the new entrants to the AC with more than 50 of their supporters told newsmen that they were impressed with the one- year old government of Oshiomhole especially in the creation of employment for almost 5,000 youths in the state.
